Thanks for cluing me in on the details and the origins of this film, folks. I never would have thought to look under the German title as I didn't consider the possibility that this might be a foriegn film. Another thing that would throw you off track was the opening scene with the Boy Scouts and the scoutmaster telling the story, but I suspect that footage was added later by American filmakers to hide the German origin, but I could be wrong. My version may be an altered version of the original film discussed at IMDB.

Scouting started in 1907 Britain and by 1910 had spread all over the continent, so those guys probably WERE German Scouts. BSA is only a part of Scouting, you know.
